I’d just like to state before writing this post that what works for me and my skin may not be the same for everyone else. Our skin varies from person to person, and so that means the products we use will vary too. Somebody recently asked me what my essential items are, so I thought it would be a nice blog post to feature.
Upon waking up, I always like my skin to feel refreshed, so I give it a once over with my Micellar Water. I am currently using Superdrug’s B. Beauty B. Pure one, and honestly I am loving it. It is so reasonably priced, and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh after use.
After the micellar water, I A L W A Y S moisturise prior to putting makeup on, or even if I am not applying makeup. As well as your body, you have to keep your skin hydrated, and a good moisturiser will most certainly do that. My go to’s at the moment are Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Brightening Day Cream, Superdrug’s B.Confident Day Cream, Sukin Sensitive Facial Moisturiser, or The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream. All work with my skin amazingly, yet all completely different price points.
Although not classed as skincare (more makeup), I always apply a primer before makeup. My favourite being my Arbonne one, as mentioned in my previous post, however, I also really like the e.l.f hydrating face primer, and the GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer if you are after slightly lower price points. A good primer is essential in keeping your makeup on throughout the day, and also smooth over any pores to enable your makeup goes on smoother.
For my night time routine, I am a sucker for a cleansing facial wipe, which is definitely a bad habit I have picked up over the years (and probably not something a beauty blogger should admit, however I want to be honest and truthful with you lovely lot). I use the Superdrug’s own brand Cleansing Facial Wipes, however, I do also use my Superdrug’s B Pure Micellar Water every night too, to get off those makeup remnants, as we all know wipes are not 100% effective in removing makeup. I don’t actually put makeup on every day because I work from home, so there is no need in my eyes. When I do wear it however, I do tend to use a cleanser and toner to remove, cleanse and purify. The Arbonne RE9 cleanser and toner are my most recent go to’s.
After removing makeup/giving my face a night time cleanse, I always apply an overnight oil/serum. One of my favourites is The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, which if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know is one of my favourite products, and I can’t recommend it enough. I am currently trialling the Marula Blue Safari Sunset Repairing Face Oil, which so far so good, but I will give a full review on it in a few weeks, once I have had a real feel for it. I try not to put the oil on my forehead, as I tend to get spots in between my eyebrows the most. You know those awful under the skin ones. I have combination skin, and that part of my skin is quite oily anyways.
Another essential night time product for me is eye cream, or eye serum. One of the best ones I have used is the Arbonne RE9 Corrective Eye Cream. I absolutely love it. I am liking the Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Brightening Eye Cream too, but the Arbonne one is definitely my favourite I have used so far.
As you can see my daily essential products range from lower priced products (Superdrug), to mid priced products (The Body Shop and Sukin), and also higher priced products (Arbonne). When it comes to skincare, I would happily pay more to ensure I am absorbing only the best products, but sometimes it isn’t about price. If a product is good and works with your skin, it doesn’t matter what the price is. I absolutely love Superdrug, as their prices are so reasonable, but I would also highly recommend the other brands I have mentioned too. It all just depends on your budget.
I hope this was helpful. Do let me know in the comments below some of your favourite daily essentials.
