Lush – The Good and The Bad

Lush – The Good and The Bad

As you all know I am a massive fan of Lush, however I have tried a few products lately which I have not been so impressed by. I thought I would write a post about my top 3 Lush products, but also 3 products which haven’t won me over.

Starting with my top 3 favourite products to get this going.

Number 1 – Soak & Float Shampoo Bar

I know I go on about this shampoo bar all of the time on Instagram, but seriously, it has actually changed my life. That seems like quite an extreme statement for a shampoo I know, but it is the truth. It has helped my scalp so much, and I am just so impressed with it. I have my whole family and a few friends converted, and I will keep going on about it until everybody tries it haha! It helps that it smells divine too.

Number 2 – Handy Gurugu Hand Cream

T H E  B E S T  H A N D  C R E A M  E V E R! I have always struggled with dry hands, over winter especially, so when I discovered this beaut of a product, maybe last year or the year before, it was like a dream come true. It smells delicious and has a great consistency. The only downside of it is that it is quite greasy, so more of a bedside table hand cream as opposed to a handbag one. The greasiness however does add to the intensity of the cream, which is probably what makes it so good.

Number 3 – R & B Hair Moisturiser

Having bought this for someone else, and hearing great reviews I had to try it. The smell itself is amazing. I am continuously smelling my hair when it is on. It can be used on wet or dry hair, and I can clarify that it works brilliantly on both. The pot also lasts a good while as you don’t need to use much each time. I don’t use conditioner all the time, as it makes styling more difficult (curls don’t stay in), so this is the perfect product to help keep my hair hydrated, alongside taming the frizz and soothing the scalp.

Number 4 (ok cheeky little extra favourite, because I couldn’t decide on just 3) – Dirty Springwash Shower Gel

I couldn’t not include this product in my top product list. I was bought the mini bottle for Christmas last year I think, and it is quite possibly the best mint shower gel I have ever come across. It is so refreshing, and not as “tingly” as other mint shower gels if you know what I mean. It leaves your body (and the bathroom) smelling incredible after use. Highly highly recommended.

Now, onto my not so favourite products.

Number 1 – Aromaco Deodorant

I was so disappointed with this product, as I really had high hopes for it. When I smelt it in the shop, I actually really like the scent, but now I am not so keen. I think having it on my pits for the day put me off it slightly. When using it, it does actually go on nicely, considering it is a block deodorant, but as soon as you put your arms down, the deodorant on your pits goes all bitty and horrible. Thankfully, I am not a smelly person, but I don’t feel as though it was very effective. Definitely won’t be buying it again.

Number 2 – Smugglers Soul Solid Perfume

I am truly gutted about this product. I think the whole idea of a solid perfume is absolutely genius, especially if like me, you travel a lot, as it is ideal for travelling light and with hand luggage only, as it minimises liquids, and takes up barely any room. I have nothing against the packaging, the smell (which I actually love), even the product itself being green didn’t offend me, as it rubbed in really nicely and was extremely moisturising. It’s just the scent did not last at all, which is such a shame, as I really love the smell and concept of it. To get an idea, you couldn’t even really smell it even just 10 minutes after applying it. I kept it in my bag and had to keep applying regularly.

Number 3 – The Greeench

Now, this is a difficult one, as I didn’t hate the actual product, but I just wasn’t so keen on the smell. I normally love herbal scents too, as I am not a sweet scented person at all. If anything, I find sweet scents far too sickly. This was just a bit too “herbally” for me for a deodorant. On that note though, keen to try one of their other powder deodorants with not such prominent smells.

So there we have it, some of my favourite Lush products, and some of my not so favourite Lush products. Let me know if you have tried any of the above in the comments below, and also what your favourite, or least favourite products are.

All of these products I have mentioned are vegan, but please do remember not all Lush products are. They are clearly labelled however. You can find all the products I have mentioned above on the Lush website, and of course in their shops.
